As the Romans once said “What is written will remain”; as unknown Bulgarian inscribed on the rock “Let you know…”! Only because of this philosophy of the ancestors, the Past stay close to us and it lives and talks trough our imagination. Epigraphic artifacts relate about important events as well as everyday life of individuals. They speak of strong governors as well as of quiet priests. And this tale sounds in the language of our forefathers—so distanced, but so understandable.

At present, the collection of Old-Bulgarian inscriptions of the Archeological Museum “Veliki Preslav” is one of the richest allover the country. Dating back to the 10th and 11th centuries, original Cyrillic, Glagolitic and Greek inscriptions can be seen in the exposition of the museum as well as on the plaster and blocks of the Round Church and the East fortress wall. Unfortunately, the richness of the famous Simeon Library was robbed and destroyed by conquerors, and today we only find small bone or metal pieces from books, kept in the ruins. As such, anything, from the shortest script to a monumental inscription, can be as important as a finding a book.
